Delivering a speech at his Liberal Democratic Party's annual convention in Tokyo Sunday, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed his strong determination to lead the ruling party to win this summer's House of Councillors election.
"By winning the election, we will grab back a Japan that we can proud of," Abe said.
As for his declaration of Japan's participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade talks, Abe, also LDP president, sought understanding from party members still wary of the move by saying, "I will protect Japan's agriculture and food without fail. Believe me."
