Next generation TV promoting body inaugurated
NHK -- Jun 18
An organization to promote next-generation TV broadcasting technologies announced its inauguration in Tokyo on Monday.

The promotional forum was jointly set up last month by firms including broadcasters, telecommunication carriers and electronic makers.

Members want to promote technologies including "4K" and "8K" TVs. 4K is a resolution with 4 times as many pixels as current high definition television broadcasting. 8K has 16 times as many pixels.

They also plan to promote next-generation Internet linked Smart TV service.
