Jun 14 (NHK) - A soccer coach of a private senior high school near Tokyo has been fired after a video of him striking a player was posted online.
Officials of Musashi Ogose High School in Saitama Prefecture were notified on Monday about the video on Twitter.
It shows the coach in his 30s repeatedly hitting the student in the face and chest on a school field where about 20 colleagues were present.
A comment on the video says other students have been subject to such violence, and that one of them is complaining of stomach discomfort.
School officials say that after checking the video and questioning the coach, they confirmed that corporal punishment took place during club activity last Friday.
