Hanyu defends gold in men's figure skating

Feb 18 (NHK) - Japan's Yuzuru Hanyu has won gold in the men's figure skating in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in South Korea.

He is the first male skater to win consecutive Olympic gold medals in 66 years.

Hanyu successfully landed his first quadruple jump in Saturday's free program. He entered the event in first place after setting an Olympic record in Friday's short program.

Japanese skater Shoma Uno won the silver medal.

Javier Fernandez from Spain took bronze.
