78-year-old driver arrested for driving off with man clinging to hood

Feb 20 (Japan Today) - Aichi prefectural police said Tuesday they have arrested a 78-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he drove his car with a man clinging to the hood of his car in Nagoya.

According to police, Keishi Ido, a sales company board member from Kasugai City, Aichi Prefecture, was driving in Moriyama Ward at around 8:30 a.m. Monday when his vehicle hit a minibike's mirror, Sankei Shimbun reported. The 29-year-old male motorcyclist subsequently chased after Ido.

The victim then stood in front of Ido's car while it was waiting at a red traffic light. However, when Ido started to drive off at a speed of 40 kilometers per hour, the motorcyclist jumped onto the hood and was carried along for about 150 meters before getting off at the next red light. He was not injured.
