Tokyo Game Show canceled

May 09 (NHK) - One of the world's largest game exhibitions has been canceled due to the coronavirus. Organizers say they will consider holding the Tokyo Game Show online.

The event was to take place over four days from September 24 in Chiba City, near Tokyo.

The leading convention for video games drew more than 650 exhibitors from 40 countries and territories last year. More than 262,000 people attended.

The organizers sought understanding over the cancellation, saying they reached the decision after giving top priority to the health and safety of visitors and all other parties involved.

They say they plan to hold an alternate online event to be announced later.
