May 26 (Japan Times) - An apparent suicide note written by Hana Kimura, the 22-year-old professional wrestler and cast member of the internationally popular Netflix reality show “Terrace House,†was found at her Tokyo home in the wake of her death, investigative sources said Monday.
The note expressed her gratitude toward people around her, the sources said.
Based on evidence she had been victimized by cyberbullying, police have yet to determine the cause of her death on Saturday.
Prompted by the outpouring of messages of condolence and a public outcry against such bullying, leading politicians on Monday spoke of the need to deal with the issue.
The Diet affairs chief of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, Hiroshi Moriyama, met with Jun Azumi, his counterpart in the main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, and agreed to start a discussion on establishing a set of rules to prevent cyberbullying.
On the day of her death, the Yokohama native tweeted, “Every day, I receive nearly 100 honest opinions and I cannot deny that I get hurt.â€
She also wrote on Twitter, “Thank you for giving birth to me, Mom. I wanted to be loved in life.â€
On Instagram, Kimura posted a picture of herself and a cat with the message “I love you, please live a long and joyful life. I’m sorry,†in the early hours of Saturday, shortly before her death was confirmed at a hospital.
