BTS’s new Japanese album sold half a million copies in Japan in just its first two days

Jul 18 (forbes.com) - Known primarily for recording hits in Korean, BTS also releases singles and albums in Japanese, and they have now become so successful that the group can score an instant bestseller in nearly every country and many different languages.

The band’s latest full-length Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~ has already passed an important milestone that only a handful of beloved projects can hope to reach, and it managed to do so in just a matter of days.

BTS’s Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~, their latest Japanese album, sold more than 500,000 copies in Japan alone...in just the first two days it was available.

On the first day fans could pick up a copy of Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~, the title sold an incredible 447,869 units, and that’s just in Japan. That sum is already enough to make it one of the most successful titles of 2020 in the country, which boasts one of the largest music markets in the world.

The second day Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~ was available, the title sold another 54,975 copies, bringing its two-day total to an incredible 502,844.
