Coronavirus cases in Japan top 30,000

Japanese authorities confirmed 468 new cases of the coronavirus on Saturday. This brings the total number of infections in the country to more than 30,000, including over 700 cases who were identified onboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship docked near Tokyo earlier this year.

The total number of cases in Japan now stands at 30,208. That includes cases found during airport quarantine checks and 712 cases on the Diamond Princess.

The death toll has reached 1,007, including 13 from the cruise ship.

The health ministry says that as of Friday, 68 people had developed severe symptoms.

21,987 have been discharged from hospital, including 659 who were onboard the Diamond Princess.

新型コロナウイルスの25日の感染者は802人で、クルーズ船を含めると累計3万人を超えました。  東京都では25日に295人の感染が確認され、20代と30代が6割以上を占めました。40代と50代は75人で全体の4分の1となるなど、若者以外への感染が増加傾向となっています。都は重症化リスクが高い高齢者に対し、感染予防策を徹底するよう呼び掛けました。また、感染していた80代女性の死亡も確認されています。  一方、大阪府では未就学児から90代までの男女132人の感染が確認されました。一日の感染者数としては過去2番目に多い数字となります。60代の男性が病院への搬送を自宅で待っていた際に容体が急変し、亡くなりました。  また、宮崎県では高鍋町にあるスナックで県内初のクラスターが発生しました。利用客や家族など15人の感染が確認され、県は国にクラスター対策班の派遣を要請しました。宮崎では25日、合わせて19人の感染が確認されています。
