Ohtani becomes brand ambassador for crypto firm

Nov 19 (NHK) - Major League Baseball two-way star Ohtani Shohei of the Los Angeles Angels has become a global brand ambassador for cryptocurrency exchange operator FTX.

FTX says it hopes Ohtani will further enhance its brand image and increase awareness of digital assets on a global scale.

It says Ohtani's compensation for the deal will be paid entirely in cryptocurrencies and FTX equity.

FTX says it is "a long-term partnership," but did not give further details.

Ohtani also announced the deal with FTX on his social media account. He said he is excited about the arrangement.

The deal with Ohtani is the latest in a recent series of sponsorship agreements that FTX has been making with sports superstars.

National Football League quarterback Tom Brady and National Basketball Association star Stephen Curry are among its global ambassadors.
