Aug 16 (NHK) - Tokyo's Haneda Airport is bustling with travelers who spent the "bon" holidays at their hometowns or tourist destinations.
Some of the flights bound for the capital were fully booked on Tuesday afternoon.
Airlines say reservations for domestic flights during the holiday were twice as many as last year, when Tokyo, Osaka and several other prefectures were under the coronavirus state of emergency.
Families were seen coming back by Shinkansen bullet trains to Tokyo Station.
Heavy traffic is also expected on a major expressway near Tokyo on late Tuesday.
