Special anti-terror squad to guard Haneda Airport
News On Japan via Japan Today -- Mar 18
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department will station a special anti-terror security unit at Tokyo International Airport in Haneda.
From April 3, the unit will be deployed to guard the airport's international terminal.
The move comes in response to the increasing number of international flights coming in and out of Haneda Airport, which, it is feared, will make it vulnerable to terrorist groups targeting international airports, officials said, TBS reported Saturday.
The department also announced that it intends to strengthen its partnership with the Haneda airport operator in order to preclude security threats and deal with possible terrorist attacks.
