Economic index rises for 2nd straight month

The composite index of coincident economic indicators for March rose 1.3 points from the previous month, up for the second straight month, the Cabinet Office said Wednesday.
The coincident CI, which reflects economic conditions in the reporting month, stood at 96.5 against 100 for the base year of 2005, the government agency said in a preliminary report.
