Apple's iOS 6 changes may bite into Gree, DeNA games
News On Japan via Wall Street Journal -- Jun 15
In a testament to the strength and reach of Apple Inc.'s AAPL -0.11% empire of i-devices, changes to the iOS operating system, which runs the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, can have major reverberations across the world.
This time, Japanese mobile game makers Gree Inc. 3632.TO -0.94% and DeNA Co. 2432.TO +1.31% may feel the impact from changes Apple plans to introduce in iOS 6, the company's upcoming operating system due out this autumn.
Apple may be starting to encroach on Gree's and DeNA's turf just as the pair are making a serious push to establish global platforms for mobile phone games that would allow players from various countries to play against each other, join together to defeat a common foe, or swap messages during game play.
