Former Aum cultist Takahashi indicted over sarin gas attack

Former Aum Supreme Truth member Katsuya Takahashi was indicted Friday over the March 1995 sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway system.
The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office indicted the 54-year-old on charges including murder. Takahashi has admitted that he played a role in the attack, on the orders of then senior Aum members, investigative sources said.
Murder cases are subject to trials with lay judges and Takahashi's case may be the first related to the sarin attack to be handled under the system.
