Sri Lankan man held for allegedly killing taxi driver in 2002

Japanese police said Tuesday they arrested a 39-year-old Sri Lankan man, currently being held at an immigration facility in Osaka Prefecture awaiting deportation, on suspicion of killing a taxi driver in an eastern Japanese city more than 10 years ago.
The suspect was identified as Alahapperuma Haritha, who served out a prison sentence in May after being arrested in 2007 for involvement in a robbery case.
Haritha told investigators he killed the cab driver, Katsuichi Hosoi, in the city of Yachimata, Chiba Prefecture, just east of Tokyo, after they were involved in a traffic dispute.
