Tokyo stocks close 0.79% higher

Tokyo stocks closed 0.79% higher on Thursday, following a Wall Street rally spurred by better-than-expected U.S. corporate earnings and a Federal Reserve economic report.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange climbed 68.81 points to 8,795.55 while the broader Topix index of all first-section issues rose 0.90%, or 6.67 points, to 747.13.
