TSE, OSE aim to be No. 1 Asian bourse
News On Japan via Yomiuri -- Aug 25

There has been significant progress in the management integration of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange since the TSE's takeover bid for OSE shares was successfully completed.

The envisaged joint holding company, tentatively named Japan Exchange Group Inc., will be established in January next year. It will aim to better compete amid intensifying competition with exchanges across the globe.

However, there are many tasks ahead for the integrated firm concerning how to make the market more attractive and strengthen trading systems though the stock market itself has been sluggish.
