Local officials and state media say hundreds of Chinese have staged anti-Japan demonstrations for a second weekend as diplomatic tensions flare over disputed islands in the East China Sea.
Government officers in Zhuji city in Zhejiang province and Haikou in Hainan province say students and others protested Sunday. Like many Chinese officials, both refused to give their names.
Japan's Kyodo News service said demonstrations also occurred in Guangdong and Shanxi provinces, but that couldn't immediately be confirmed.
China's official Xinhua News Agency said 400 people demonstrated Saturday in Shandong's Rizhao city. Protesters carried banners demanding Tokyo give up the islands, known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China. They are controlled by Japan but also claimed by China and Taiwan.
