Prices of cooking oil and gasoline increase
News On Japan via NHKReloaded -- Sep 06

The drought of record proportions in the United States is causing food prices in Japan to rise. Leading cooking oil manufacturer Nisshin Oillio Group will raise the prices of it products starting next month.

Company officials say cooking oil prices will go up by about 5 percent. It will be the third price increase this year.

The increase is driven by soaring global prices for raw materials such as soy beans and rapeseed.

Consumers will pay over 50 cents more per kilogram for cooking oil than they paid at the beginning of this year.
