A 42-year-old mother has been arrested on suspicion of abandoning the corpse of a newborn baby in a refrigerator in her Tokyo apartment, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
It is suspected that the woman gave birth to the child alone in her apartment not long before the remains of the baby boy and the umbilical cord were discovered on July 19.
The woman is reported to have admitted to the charges, saying the baby was not breathing after the birth and she didn't know what to do so she hid the body in the refridgerator.
