Japan's new car sales for September declines

New car sales in Japan fell during September, the first decline in a year. Industry groups say about 447,000 vehicles were sold in the month. That's down 3.3 percent from September last year.
The slowdown occurred mainly because the government ended a subsidy program for eco-friendly vehicle purchases in September.
Sales fell 9.6 percent for Nissan, 5.7 percent for Toyota, and 3.8 percent for Honda.
Officials of the Japan Automobile Dealers Association say the slowing domestic economy could further hurt the industry.
