Gangster snuck syringe into detention facility

A senior gang member smuggled a syringe into a detention facility despite undergoing a physical examination, police said.
According to Urawa Higashi Police Station, Akihiko Hama was arrested Wednesday night while driving a car with stolen license plates. He was taken into detention after having a physical examination.
On Thursday afternoon, he went to the toilet while being questioned, and handed the syringe to a police officer when he returned to the interrogation room.
