The number of requests by an oversight body for the deletion of online posts containing illegal information on 2channel, one of the nation's largest Internet forums, fell to 311 in the first half of 2012, down about 90 percent from 3,122 a year before, National Police Agency data showed Thursday.
The number of ads for illegal drugs decreased, while the site's operator removed more messages voluntarily, NPA officials said.
Of the 311 messages, including those on trade in third parties' bank account info and ads for banned drugs, 138, or 44.4 percent, were deleted by 2channel's operator after the requests.
