Nature calls researcher's method 'weird'

The prestigious scientific journal Nature questioned the credibility of the Japanese researcher's claimed success in the clinical application of induced pluripotent stem cells, saying the "transplant of iPS cells to treat heart failure probably never happened."
In an article headlined "Stem-cell transplant claims debunked" carried in its online edition Friday, the journal concluded that there was nothing to substantiate Hisashi Moriguchi's claim that he conducted iPS cell treatment.
Moriguchi maintained that he used two types of chemicals to create iPS cells. But the magazine questioned this, citing a Japanese stem-cell researcher who said he had "never heard of success with that method."
iPS細胞を使った臨床応用に成功したと主張する森口尚史氏の過去の論文の中に、ノーベル賞を受賞した山中伸弥教授の論文と同じ表現があると、イギリスの科学誌が指摘した。
