'Lady Kaga' founder eyes Tokyo tourists

In a promotional film, young women who manage or work at ryokan inns of the Kaga hot spring resort in Ishikawa Prefecture stand on a railway station platform, some bowing while others wave coyly. When the commercial was posted on YouTube last autumn, it garnered more than 300,000 views over three months.
The women belong to the hot spring's sightseeing promotion team "Lady Kaga."
Lady Kaga was recently honored for its contribution to tourism promotion in the nation by Norifumi Ide, commissioner of the Japan Tourism Agency.
Hiroyuki Yorozuya, 36, who planned and leads the Lady Kaga project, is pleased that many people have recognized it. "We only had a budget of 900,000 yen for the project, so we could not air it as a TV commercial," he said. "Even so, I'm really happy that such a locally based activity has gained wide recognition."
