Nepalese set to be acquitted at retrial for 1997 murder

A repatriated Nepalese man facing a retrial over a 1997 murder case in Japan is set to be acquitted as prosecutors will shortly submit a document to a high court stating their opinion that he is innocent, sources familiar with the matter said Wednesday.
At the retrial opening Oct. 29, the Tokyo High Public Prosecutors Office had planned to maintain their prior position that the man, Govinda Prasad Mainali, 45, was guilty, but have now decided to give up their case of murder and robbery against him.
