35-year-old man held over murder of grandmother in Aomori

Police said Saturday they have arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of murdering his grandmother in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Tomohito Kurihara, is accused of strangling his grandmother to death with a hand towel at their home at around 9 a.m. on Friday, while his mother was out of the house, TBS reported. Police say Kurihara's mother returned home a short time later, at which point he reportedly confessed to the murder.
A 24-year-old woman was in a serious condition Friday after being stabbed by a man whom she reported to police for stalking her in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture. (Japan Today )
