September figures from the Japan Food Service Association show sales for 229 operators of restaurants, pubs and fast food chains rose 3.6 percent over the same month last year. This marks a second straight month of increase.
The long summer that lasted through mid-September prompted consumers to drink more chilled beverages in restaurants and visit beer gardens more often.
