Ball of light observed over Tokyo

People in the Tokyo metropolitan area say they have witnessed what appeared to be a ball of light falling from the sky.

An NHK camera at Japan's tallest structure, Tokyo Skytree, captured the occurrence shortly after 10:30 PM on Friday.

Footage taken at around the same time from car drive recorders in Tokyo and Yamanashi Prefecture also show what appears to be a falling ball of light.

People have posted videos of the sighting on social media.

Last month, a fireball was seen streaking across wide areas of Japan. Two fragments of a bright meteor were later found near Tokyo.
