Theme parks to allow more visitors from Friday

NHK -- Oct 01

Theme parks in Japan will ease the limit on the number of visitors from Friday, as the coronavirus state of emergency in 19 prefectures across Japan ends on Thursday.

The operator of Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea says it will double the maximum number of visitors at each facility from 5,000 to 10,000.

Oriental Land says it will maintain shortened operating hours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the time being.

The company plans to resume selling alcohol in the parks as soon as it obtains a certificate as a facility where sufficient anti-virus measures are taken.

Universal Studios Japan in Osaka will also double the cap on the number of visitors to 10,000.

It has not decided whether to restart serving alcohol.

The theme park says it will carry on with thorough anti-virus measures because the risk of infection still remains.
