Japan’s rural trains battle for survival

CHIBA, Dec 30 (france24.com) - Many small railway lines across Japanese countryside carry sizeable losses.

But in Chiba Prefecture, Katsunori Takemoto has found a way to keep his business afloat. According to the transport ministry, 91 out of the country's 95 small railways - services outside urban areas or major regional links - recorded deficits last year.
