Taxi operators facing bankruptcy in Japan hit 10-year high

TOKYO, Feb 09 (South China Morning Post) - The number of taxi operators going bankrupt in Japan has reached a 10-year-high, according to a new survey conducted by local business information provider, Tokyo Shoko Research.

Surging energy costs and a shrinking manpower pool due to an ageing population were cited as major reasons for their bankruptcy. However, with the recovery of inbound travel, the taxi industry is hoping to attract more drivers.
