10 Japanese nationals evacuate from Gaza

NHK -- Nov 02

A Japanese government official says ten Japanese nationals and their eight Palestinian family members have evacuated to Egypt from the Gaza Strip.

Parliamentary vice-minister for foreign affairs, Fukazawa Yoichi, discussed the matter on Thursday morning.

He said all 18 people who wanted to evacuate had fled to Egypt by land on Wednesday, local time.

The Foreign Ministry says ten of them are people related to international and non-governmental organizations.

Ministry officials say only a few Japanese nationals remain in Gaza, and that they don't want to evacuate at this time because their lives are based there.
