Jul 02 (Japan Times) - Ryohin Keikaku Co., the operator of Japan’s Muji brand household goods stores, opened a second hotel under the brand in downtown Beijing on Saturday in a join venture with a unit of Odakyu Electric Railway Co.
The Muji Hotel Beijing is located near Tiananmen Square, a popular tourist spot in the Chinese capital. Efforts to simplify service have enabled the hotel to offer relatively low room rates despite the good location, Ryohin Keikaku said.
The Muji Hotel is designed to reflect an anti-luxury, anti-cheap concept and offer guests comfort at the right price, the company said.
The first Muji hotel opened in Shenzhen, China’s Guangdong Province, in January this year. The third one is scheduled to open in Tokyo’s posh Ginza district in spring next year.
