Tokyo International Film Festival kicks off

TOKYO, Oct 25 (NHK) - One of Asia's largest film festivals has kicked off in Tokyo with the first red-carpet event for actors and directors in three years.

The opening of the 35th Tokyo International Film Festival was held at several venues in the city's Chiyoda ward. The event was not held for two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The so-called Red Carpet Relay event was also attended by the festival's ambassador, actress Hashimoto Ai.

She and other dignitaries were seen waving at applauding fans, signing autographs and having their photos taken.

This year's competition will showcase 15 films chosen from 1,695 entries from 107 countries and regions from around the world. ...continue reading
