Young Performers Star in Traditional Kabuki at Nagahama Festival

Apr 17 (News On Japan) - At the Nagahama Hikiyama Festival in Shiga Prefecture, children showcased a traditional Kabuki performance, captivating audiences with their skills.

On the 14th, boys aged between four and twelve years performed "Children's Kabuki" at the festival, which is one of Japan's three major float festivals.

The festival originated when the residents of Nagahama celebrated the birth of a son to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the lord of Nagahama Castle, by constructing festival floats. This event is now recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
