Japanese Olympic triathlete hopeful killed by driver while riding in France

Jul 30 (cyclingmagazine.ca) - 25-year-old Tsudoi Miyazaki was killed by a motorist on Wednesday near the city of Orléans, France, according to a statement from the Japan Triathlon Union (JTU).

“World Triathlon and the Japan Triathlon Union want to offer our deepest condolences to Ms. Miyazaki family, friends, coaches and teammates,” read the statement by the JTU. “The thoughts of all the triathlon family are with you all in these terrible times.”

Miyazaki started racing triathlons in university and quickly showed her talent. She won the Japanese u-23 Triathlon Championships in 2019. Her goal was the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Miyazaki recently raced at the Pontevedra World Cup last weekend in Spain, where she placed 50th. ...continue reading
