Japan Wins Historic Olympic Double in Men's 81kg Judo

PARIS, Jul 31 (News On Japan) - Takashi Nagase (30) won the gold medal in the men's 81kg judo category on the fifth day of the Paris 2024 Olympics, becoming the first in Olympic history to achieve back-to-back victories in this weight class.

Nagase, who won gold at the previous Tokyo Olympics, faced Georgia's Tato Grigalashvili in the final.

This marks Nagase's third consecutive Olympic medal, having previously won bronze at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics and gold at the Tokyo Olympics, making him the first to achieve consecutive titles in the men's 81kg category in Olympic history.
