Sumo Stars Light Up Sapporo Summer Tour

SAPPORO, Aug 18 (News On Japan) - A summer tour of professional sumo was held in Sapporo on August 17th, drawing large crowds who enjoyed the powerful matches up close.

The touring event, which allows fans to see rikishi at close range, brought thousands of spectators to the Sapporo venue.

Among the wrestlers, hometown favorite Ichiyamamoto from Iwanai in Hokkaido proved especially popular. Fans praised him enthusiastically, saying, "I was so happy to meet him," "His hands were so big I couldn’t hold them fully," "He felt soft," and "He had a wonderful smile."

On the dohyo, the main highlight was the final bout featuring Oonosato and Hoshoryu, which drew intense excitement and filled the venue with energy.
