TOKYO, Mar 06 (News On Japan) - Japan’s national team began its World Baseball Classic campaign with a commanding victory on March 6th, defeating Taiwan 13-0 in a seven-inning mercy-rule game in Group C of the first round at Tokyo Dome.

The lopsided win gave Japan a strong start to the tournament, with fans erupting in cheers when Shohei Ohtani launched a grand slam that highlighted the team’s dominant performance.

At a public viewing event held at a shopping center in Chiba City, around 100 people who had won seats through a lottery gathered to watch the game, joined by several dozen additional spectators standing nearby as they followed the action on large screens.
