TOKYO - Japan's delegation for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games held a team formation ceremony at a hotel in Tokyo on August 19, exactly one month before the competition opens, with wrestler Akari Fujinami pledging that the athletes would "fight through to the very end" on home soil.
Princess Kako, the second daughter of Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko, attended the ceremony.
Fujinami, 22, who will serve as Japan's flag bearer at the opening ceremony, delivered a statement of determination on behalf of the delegation.
"On this special stage of competing in our own country, I pledge that together with my teammates, we will fight through to the very end," Fujinami said.
