AICHI - Families and children tried their hand at cricket at an event in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture, on August 29, designed to build interest in the sport ahead of its competition at the Asian Games.

The event is being held at a shopping center in Nagakute, giving local residents an opportunity to experience cricket, a sport sometimes described as a precursor to baseball.

Many families attended from the morning of August 29, with participants receiving guidance from staff as they practiced hitting balls with cricket bats and experienced the excitement of the game.

One child said, "I managed to hit the ball once while batting." Another participant said, "I'm not used to hitting from below, but it was still fun."

The event is scheduled to continue until 5 p.m. on August 30.

Women's cricket at the Asian Games will be held from September 17 to September 22, followed by the men's competition from September 24 to October 3 at Aichi Prefecture K口論義 Sports Park in Nisshin.
