Jul 15 (NHK) - The death toll from last week's record downpour in southwestern Japan has risen to 32.
Officials of Fukuoka Prefecture said on Friday that one of the bodies recovered from the Ariake Sea last Saturday was identified as that of an 89-year-old man from Asakura City.
The officials say he may have been washed out to sea by a swollen river.
And police found the body of a woman near a river bed.
Search efforts are continuing as more than 10 people in northern Kyushu remain unaccounted for.
