Aug 01 (Japan Today) - Police on Monday said they have arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of killing a 70-year-old man in a park in Tokyo's Sumida Ward on Friday.
olice said Ryo Yamamoto has admitted to beating Eiji Yanagihara, ,of no fixed address, about the head with a park security light as he slept on a bench at around 11 p.m. last Thursday, Fuji TV reported.
Yanagihara's body was found in Yokoamicho Park at 5 a.m. Friday by a woman on her way to work. She called 119. Police rushed to the scene and found Yanagihara lying on the ground, bleeding from the head. He was taken to hospital where he was confirmed dead.
Yanagihara's bicycle was found near the body. His shoes and some other personal belongings were under the bench.
Police said Yamamoto's fingerprint was found on the blood-stained security light. He was arrested Sunday night at JR Kinshicho Station.
