Aug 05 (Japan Today) - Actress Mariko Ishihara is not expected to be indicted for allegedly shoplifting food at a Tokyo supermarket after investigators referred her to prosecutors Friday with a recommendation of leniency, police said.
The 53-year-old actress who gained popularity through her roles in TV dramas in the 1980s was suspected of stealing a bento lunch box and tea from a shop on July 18.
According to the police, Ishihara admitted to the allegation and told them she stole the food because she was hungry.
