Aug 12 (NHK) - Japan is deploying missile interceptor units in western parts of the country in response to North Korea's plans to fire missiles toward the US Pacific territory of Guam.
North Korea says its ballistic missiles will fly over the 3 prefectures of Shimane, Hiroshima and Kochi before landing in waters off Guam.
Air Self-Defense Force units in charge of PAC3 interceptor missiles left for their destinations on Friday night. They are expected to arrive at 4 SDF camps in the 3 prefectures and neighboring Ehime Prefecture on Saturday morning.
The units will install radar systems and launchers to prepare for the eventuality that missile parts will fall into the areas.
