Aug 14 (Japan Today) - A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after he beat a 55-year-old man unconsciousness following a dispute outside JR Kameido Station in Tokyo's Koto Ward.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 5:25 a.m. Saturday near the bus stop outside the station. Sankei Shimbun reported that the suspect, Ryo Shida, a scrap worker, shoved the older man to the ground and kicked him.
Police said the victim remained in a coma on Sunday.
Police said Shida, who was drunk at the time of his arrest, has admitted to the charge and quoted him as saying he and the older man were passing by each other when they glared at each other.
