Aug 25 (NHK) - People in Japan and China will celebrate 45 years of diplomatic relations between their countries next month in Beijing.
Sources from both countries say a ceremony will be held in the Great Hall of the People in the Chinese capital on September 8th to commemorate the 45th anniversary of normalized relations.
The ceremony is hosted by the China-Japan Friendship Association and will be attended by representatives of 7 Japanese entities working to promote bilateral friendship.
It is part of a series of events being held to mark the landmark year.
Japan sent a 600-member delegation to a commemorative ceremony held in Beijing 10 years ago to mark the 35th anniversary. Former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori and then Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao took part.
But a reception planned 5 years ago was canceled after Japan's government acquired ownership of some of the Senkaku Islands from a private Japanese owner.
