Sep 17 (Japan Today) - Police in Kaizu, Gifu Prefecture, said Saturday they have arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting his six-year-old stepson by hitting him with a baseball bat.
According to police, the suspect beat the boy on the head and face with the bat at their home at around 8:30 p.m. on Sept 13, Sankei Shimbun reported. A teacher at the boy’s school noticed the bruises the next day and the school contacted the police.
The boy was taken to hospital where doctors said his injuries will take about two weeks to heal.
Police said the suspect, who works for a train car manufacturing company, has admitted hitting his stepson, and quoted him as saying he did it to discipline the boy.
